This event has grown in popularity since it's inception in the early 1980's from it's humble beginnings as a small neighbor event with a street party featuring a few local bands to the current festival which features 3 stages and over 300 artist, vendors and craftsmen.
Always a fun event with a diverse crowd and nonstop live music from about 12 noon onward until closing at 7 pm. Bob X will have a large array of new work on display and for sale. The Bob X booth will be located in the usual spot on Young Ave. Space B 25 on the east end (towards the Fairgrounds) of Young Avenue.
During the Summer on June 22 2010 the city of Memphis declared that day as "Art Day" in Memphis. A group of about 100 local artists and musicians gathered at City Hall to celebrate the arts.
Bob X was there with a small selection of paintings and sculpties on display. There were also dancers, singers, rappers, etc. The group effort was a great showing of the diverse arts and performers in the city.
The Mayor was in attendance and a good time was had by all.
I have provided some links to The Commercial Appeal site as well as Arts Memphis both of which were present and helping to promote the arts in Memphis.
These links will show some photos of the event and it's participants.

News now from former XEX GRAPHIX contributing artist and creator and owner of THRU BLACK HOLES COMIX - MIKE RODEN.
In the 1980's XEX GRAPHIX and THRU BLACK HOLES COMIX worked closely on several projects including the infamous CRAZY MEN series (see XEX GRAHIX history section for more info on titles, etc.) More news from Mike and his new outfit expected soon. NOW RANDOM NEWS BITS!
The world famous OVERTON PARK SHELL has closed and is not expected to reopen anytime soon. You may have read about the shell on this website and viewed some of the poster art from shell events or even the pics of us silk screening the posters by hand in the pics section. It's a sad fact. The city closed the facitity last fall because of faulty wiring and plumbing, among other problems. This is the first year there has been no Earthday celebration in Memphis.Along with doing event posters, this was one of my favorite outdoor vending locations,so the closing not only represented a loss of a great music venue and historic landmark, but also a big chunk of my income.Anybody interested in helping to reopen the SHELL should contact the SAVE OUR SHELL foundation at www.overtonparkshell.com
Ok contrary to some misrepoting in a recent issue of the MEMPHIS FLYER,BOB X was the only poster artist for the HELL ON EARTH Party posters from 1990 - 1999.BOB X did the artwork for the first HELL ON EARTH poster in 1986. The second years art was done by KRISTI WHITE. ALL OTHER YEARS POSTERS UNTIL 2004 were done by BOB X.I did email the MEMPHIS FLYER and let them konw about this mistake, but as of this writing have ignored my attempted contacts and refused to correct this bit of misinformation. BOB X no longer does the art work for this event, since being the unreasonalbe type, I required some payment for my efforts.
Well I guess that wraps up the SUMMER 2005 NEWS UPDATE. Check the LINKS and CONTACTS Section for new contact addresses and updates on the News Page. I update and revise whenever I get a chance, which,as it turns out isn't that often..Thanks to all of my friends, fans add viewers of this site. Sorry to all who have been waiting for updates and info.

LEGBA RECORDS has closed. Owner and musician extraodinaire GREG CARTWRIGHT and family have relocated to
Asheville. N.C. While this is a great loss to the Memphis music scene and the collectible record market
here it's sure to be a treat for the North Carolinians that my have never had the pleasure of hearing
Greg perform live! Greg and the whole Legba crew have been very kind and generous to me these last few
years and I will miss him. As for the store, Greg took the hanging outdoor sign that I did for the store
and the Legba name with him.
Here's a Legba records T-shirt design:

A FEW HINTS ON CARE OF YOUR PAINTINGS
1.Try to avoid direct sunlight
2.Slightly dampen a cloth with water only for occasional light cleaning or dusting.
3.Never use any cleansers or solvents on painted surfaces.
4. Avoid moisture because canvas and wood can rot, mold, mildew and/or warp in the
presence of moisture. 5. Aviod scuffs and scratches ot the surfaces by handling carefully
by the edges when hanging or transporting your paintings. 6.Never stack multiple paintings.
Always store and/or transport with dividers in proper packing boxes(they come in all sizes.)
7. ENJOY!
